Nice weather

Well today was another beautiful day in New Hampshire.  It was 80 degrees  and sunny and glorious!  When I got home from school, I did some gardening (as can be seen here).  We have a ton of flowers in our yard that Greg was threatening to cut when he mows the lawn, so I decided to move them into the garden.  This is my first attempt at a garden, so we'll see how long they last.  I have a friend Melissa who I work with and she's a florist as her other job, and she's pretty much an expert on gardens.  I'm trying to bribe her with beer to come over here and plant my tomato plants for me.  There's all kinds of bullshit you have to do for these plants and it's really stressful.

Tomorrow is my first day working at the park.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to be setting up the campground store for the entire day.  I'm okay with this because it's better than dealing with angry campers.  My dream is that my dogs won't be too crazy this summer, so when I'm working, I can tie them up outside of the store and they can be campground dogs.

Yesterday we bought Molly her own bed.  The other day she managed to get out of the crate and Greg came home to find her in Peanut's bed.  She's such a meanie to Peanut.  She kicks Peanut out of her bed and chases her away from her food!  Peanut is just way too submissive for her own good.  When we yell at Molly, Peanut freaks out and runs away.  She's crazy.  But anyway, we bought Molly a bed with the hope that she will sleep on her bed rather than chase Peanut out of hers.  Right now, Peanut is sleeping on Molly's bed and barking at Molly any time she comes near.  I think Peanut likes Molly's bed better because it's like 3 times as fluffy as Peanut's old, flattened bed.  These girls are ridiculous.

Can I just say that I'm obsessed with Arizona Iced Tea?  Preferably the Raspberry flavor.  You know those huge cans that only cost 99 cents?!  Man, I love those.  It's the most refreshing drink on a hot day.  Too bad there's like 70g of sugar in one can.

Today I spoke with Monica and we had an enjoyable conversation.  We spent most of our time talking about Chinese toilets.  Frankly, that is enough for me to not want to go China.  Monica was saying that she may have 2 weeks of freedom and she wants to do something awesome like go to an airport and buy a ticket to anywhere, just to go.  I said she should definitely get someone to go with her, so maybe this is the perfect opportunity for the "non carefree Rachel."  So, you might want to call her and discuss the travel plans.

Did you guys watch the finale of The Office?  I really enjoyed it.  I won't say anything, for fear of spoiling, but I thought it was cute.  Also, I heard that the Grey's finale was the best thing ever.  I would really like to watch a lot of the episodes from this season, but freakin' abc.com only has a few of the episodes; not the whole season.  How lame!  Do you guys know of anywhere else I can watch it?

Well, I think it's time to relax and prepare myself for my first day tomorrow!

Kind of boring.

Well, this is how I started my day.  The juniors had testing and everyone else had regular schedules.  I'm in all junior classes.  So this is me in first block, alone in a classroom, trying not fall asleep.  Another exciting day at my job!  I start working at the park on Saturday, so maybe that will spice up my life a little bit.  

So, I'm going to be starting a garden next week sometime.  So far I have 14 plants to go in it: 6 tomatoes, 2 cherry tomatoes and 6 green peppers.  I'm really excited about it, but also stressing because it's hard for me to keep plants alive, and I'm struggling to keep these plants alive until I can move them outside (apparently they can't go outside until after Memorial Day because the weather is still too cold).  

Just so you know, songs are starting to cost $1.29 now on iTunes.  I'm pretty pissed at this.  I was going to buy me some Flo Rida yesterday, but then I saw the price and decided it wasn't worth it, considering the song is on the radio almost constantly.

Is it just me or does this week seem like it's taking forever?

Everybody loves Greg. =(

Well, Molly had her first vet visit today!  We brought Peanut along so Peanut could see that the vet isn't always scary.  And she was a jealous girl that wanted to come along.  But anyway, Peanut was more of a baby than Molly was.  She cried on my lap and was panting and ridiculous.    So, Molly weighs 5.2 pounds.  She's too young to get any vaccines, but the vet said she looks very healthy and her heart sounds good and she's so pretty!  She also gave us a "puppy kit" with some free food and a book with tips on raising a puppy, she also gave us our first doses of Heatgard and Frontline free!  So, we're well on our way to having a happy, healthy puppy!

Oh, why did you say that 9 weeks old is when puppies get scared...or whatever it was you said?  Can you give examples?

Well Rachel, I'm confused about what to do with my job.  I've applied to about 10 teaching positions and so far about 4 or 5 of them have been filled without giving me an interview.  The science teacher job that I applied to at the school I currently work at (Pembroke Academy), will not be filled due to budget cuts.  So that's a bummer.  I know I was so adamant about quitting my current job, which I still hate a lot, but now I'm wondering if I should continue working there just for the benefits.  I wish knowing what I want to do with my life was easier.  Damn!  However, I did apply to a job at Southern New Hampshire University.  I think it's some sort of receptionist position that gives information to prospective students.  I actually REALLY want this job because I will be able to take classes FOR FREE!!  How sweet would that be?!  I would take so many classes they would be losing money!

As far as dates when you guys should come here, I would say anytime in July except for the 4th.  Have you talked to Katie and Monica about whether you would come on a weekend, or during the week?  My days off from the park will be Thursday and Friday, so you should definitely include those days.  I would say you should be here for at least 3 or 4 days.  We could do some hiking, maybe go to Boston...that's about all there is to do around here.  Ha.  I don't know, we'll think of something!

I got to sleep in!

Okay, first of all, juniors are having state wide testing this morning from 7:30-10:30, so I don't have to go into work until 10!!!  Yay!!  However, they're doing testing all week and I'm pretty sure that today is the only day I get to come in late.  They had testing in the fall and we got assigned "posts" throughout the school to make sure the kids weren't wandering around.  What this actually means is I had to sit on the floor in the hallway for 3 hours and read a book.  It was awesome.  I'm pretty sure this is what I'll be doing tomorrow.

Actually, I don't have time to be posting right now.  I have to leave in about 30 minutes and I should make Molly wake up and play outside for a little bit before I leave her.  So, I apologize that this was anti-climatic.

First game and puppies.

Well, we lost our first  softball game.  We got smoked so the mercy rule came into effect.  I think the score was 14-2.  They called the game in the 5th inning.  I played right center for the first four innings.  The only time the ball came near me in the outfield, I was about two feet in front of it, so my back-up had to get it.  I was a little embarrassed, but it technically wasn't an error, so whatev.  I was up at bat once and I was walked.  I guess my game was okay.  I was really nervous, so I'm hoping I have all my jitters out for our next game on Monday.

Last night was 100 times better  than the first night with the puppy.  She's been sleeping in a little box, so we put that in the crate and she slept pretty well.  Sometimes I have to hold her until she falls asleep and then just drop her in the box, or else she'll just cry forever.  We brought her to the softball game today.  She was quite the hit.  And I'm sick of everyone asking "How old is she?'  "Five weeks."  "FIVE WEEKS?!!  Isn't that illegal?!!  That's too young!!"  Yeah yeah.  Everyone seems to know this.  But what am I supposed to do?  Return her and say "Can you hang on to her and we'll take her back in a few weeks?"  No.  The "breeders" will just sell her for more money to someone else.  So I guess it's best that she's with us.  She has an appointment at the vet on Tuesday.  Everyone keeps telling me to tell the vet about the breeders and turn them in.  I don't know if I'm going to do that though.  I got what I wanted: a precious female black lab at an affordable price.  The breeders were nice enough, I just think that they couldn't afford to feed 10 puppies regular food, so they had to get rid of them.

I have no pictures for this post.  I'm already not sticking to my goal of a picture for every post.  Oh, and the three picture on the first post look a little embarrassing.  But it was my first post, what can you expect?!

New Puppy

Greg and I got a new, tiny puppy!!  She's a teeny black lab.  She was a little bit stinky so we gave her her first bath!

She doesn't have a name yet, so suggestions are appreciated.

Oh, this is my new blog.  We'll see how it goes.
